What To Eat When You Crave A Sandwich: 7 Substitutes For Bread

There are several fruits and vegetables that can be substituted for bread to make sandwiches, from tomatoes to lettuce.

Our go-to option to satisfy our hunger pangs is bread next to chapati. However, bread is not the healthiest option since it contains refined flour, butter, and sugar, which are all harmful to your health. Hence, we have a few alternatives for all the times when you crave a sandwich but don’t want to eat bread. Because bread is high in calories and can contribute to weight gain, we have a few suggestions for you.

Cucumber

In addition to sandwiches, cucumbers can also be used in wraps, mini bites, or in salad dressings, just as cabbage and lettuce are. To make cucumber-based wraps or bites, just wrap your stuffing in shavings of cucumber.

Eggplant

You can make a healthy alternative sandwich with two slices of roasted eggplant that are stuffed with stuffing and served like a subzi. Eggplant is a rich source of dietary fiber, but you can also use it to replace your bread.

Tomatoes

As we usually put slices of tomato between the bread in our sandwiches, tomatoes are one of the most important ingredients. It is a good idea to swap the bread for the tomato slices if you’re hungry in the evening or at midnight. This will provide you with a healthy sandwich option.

Bell Peppers

Colorful diets are more nutritious, so it is important to eat them. What better way to have a colorful meal than with colourful bell peppers? The perfect sandwich can be made by replacing bread with bell peppers and stuffing it with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, ham, eggs, olives, etc.

Lettuce

You can make a healthy wrap instead of a bread sandwich with any type of lettuce, from an iceberg to a butterhead to a red leaf. Stuff the lettuce with cheese, olives, cottage cheese, chicken, tomatoes, onions, etc., and eat the wrap to fill you up for a long time.

With its high fibre content and vitamins K and C, cabbage leaves are an ideal snack when you need to satisfy your untimely hunger pang. You can even blanch or steam the cabbage leaves to soften them before assembling your wraps, so you won’t have to eat bread for a long time.
