
The rapper-actor Common will debut on Broadway in November 2022
It will be Common’s Broadway debut in Stephen Adly Guirgis’ Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Between Riverside and Crazy, this fall.
NEW YORK – A Pulitzer Prize-Winning Play By Stephen Adly Guirgis Will Feature Common On Broadway This Fall.
As part of the production, The Academy Award, Grammy Award, and Emmy Award-winning actor will join Stephen McKinley Henderson, Elizabeth Canavan, Liza Colón-Zayas, Victor Almanzar, Michael Rispoli, and Rosal Colón, who have all performed the work off-Broadway in 2015.
Playwright Common will portray the role of the ex-cop’s newly paroled son, Junior, in the play about a cantankerous ex-cop who owns property on New York’s Upper West Side and uses it as his surrogate family for hard-luck orphans.
‘Between Riverside and Crazy’ opens at Second Stage’s Hayes Theater on Dec. 19 after previews begin Nov. 30.
Common won the 2016 Grammy Award and Oscar nomination for best original song for the song “Glory,” a collaboration with John Legend. Common starred in the Oscar-nominated film “Selma.” In addition to Stefon Bristol’s “Breathe,” with Jennifer Hudson, Milla Jovovich, and Quvenzhané Wallis, he has just wrapped production on Apple TV+’s sci-fi drama series “Wool.”
