Shri Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated on the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month. According to religious beliefs, Lord Krishna was born on the eighth day of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month in Rohini Nakshatra at midnight in Mathura. As the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, this festival is celebrated every year with full gaiety all over the country. On this day, devotees keep fast and worship God with full rules and restraint. This time Dhruv and Vriddhi Yoga are also being formed on Janmashtami on 18th August. On the night of 18th August, the increase will be till 8.42 pm. Auspicious time for Janmashtami 2022

Astrologer tells that this time Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on 18th August. Ashtami Tithi will start from 9.20 pm on 18th August and will end on 19th August at 10.59 pm. Nishith Puja will last from 12:03 to 12:47 on the night of August 18. The total duration of Nishith Puja will be 44 minutes. Paran will take place on 19th August after 5:52 am.

The astrologer further told that there is a lot of difference of opinion regarding the date of Janmashtami this year. Some are claiming to be Janmashtami on August 18 and some on August 19. Some scholars are of the opinion that Lord Krishna was born on Ashtami Tithi at 12 o’clock in the night, so this yoga is being formed on 18th August. While some believe that on August 19, there will be Ashtami Tithi for the whole day and sunrise will also take place on this date. Therefore Janmashtami will be celebrated on 19th August. But from the religious point of view, Shri Krishna was born on Ashtami Tithi at 12 o’clock in the night. Therefore, this festival will be celebrated only on 18 August.

Astrologer told that according to Hindu scriptures, Lord Krishna was born on the eighth day of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month at midnight in conjunction with Rohini Nakshatra. Rohini Nakshatra is definitely taken care of when Janmashtami is considered. But this time the coincidence of Rohini Nakshatra is not being made on both the days of 18th and 19th August. According to the Hindu calendar, on August 19, Krittika Nakshatra will remain till 01.53 late at night. After this Rohini Nakshatra will start. Therefore, this time there will be no coincidence of Rohini Nakshatra on Janmashtami.

He further told that light food should be taken in the night before Shri Krishna Janmashtami fast. Especially on Janmashtami, salute Surya, Soma, Yama, Kaal, Sandhi, Bhoot, Pawan, Dikpati, Bhumi, Akash, Khechar, Amar, Brahmadi and sit facing east or north. After this, worship Lord Krishna by law.

Worship method of Krishna Janmashtami

On the day of Janmashtami, people keep a day’s fast. Vratis celebrate after the birth of the Lord. After this people break their fast. The puja begins after midnight, when the idol of Lord Krishna is bathed. After this, the Lord is put on new clothes and made to sit in the cradle and he is worshiped by singing devotional songs. Churan, fruits, sweets and other food items are offered as prasad to the Lord. After this, the devotees break their fast by taking the offerings of bhog.
