How Can You Find Out If Someone Has Blocked Your Number? Follow These Steps.

It may be easier to stay in touch with people around the world, but blocking someone’s number is also one of the fastest ways to cut off communication with them. And when you find yourself in that situation, it can be rather upsetting.

Our aim is to demystify some of the reasons why you may suddenly discover your conversations are being ignored by examining how you can tell if someone has blocked your number.

Don’t press the issue too hard when you’ve been blocked because you risk invading someone’s privacy if you do. Blocking may be for an excellent reason or a bad one, but it’s important not to press the issue too hard.

Find Out How Quickly You Get To Voicemail

You won’t receive a notification if you call someone who has blocked your number. However, your ringtones and voicemail will not behave normally. When you call an unblocked number, you’ll hear three to a dozen rings, then a voicemail prompt. You also go to voicemail if the person is already on a call, or their phone is off.

It’s a little different when you call a blocked number. It rings once, then goes to voicemail. You can leave a voicemail, but the message will not go directly to the recipient’s inbox. Instead, voicemails are stored separately from blocked numbers. Getting to it depends on your phone, and it’s not relevant to this article.)

Your phone may be blocked if you receive many rings or go straight to voicemail. However, if you receive only one ring with a voicemail prompt, your phone might be blocked.

It is also important to keep your ears open for a prerecorded message telling you that the number is unavailable. If you have a number that is unavailable — especially if other phones can reach it — your number is almost certainly blocked. The exact message will vary depending on the wireless carrier of the recipient.

If You Haven’t Already, Try Texting.

It’s more reliable for iOS than Android to tell if someone has blocked you via text messages, although they’re less reliable for Android. A text message is usually accompanied by two notifications after it has been sent: “Delivered,” or “Read.” The former indicates that it has been sent but has not yet been read by the recipient. The latter is self-explanatory.

It’s not possible to see either notification if you’ve been blocked. Instead, there is just a blank space underneath your message.

There are several reasons why you might not receive notifications. The most likely reason is that the user has his or her phone on Do Not Disturb mode, which prevents you from receiving notifications until the user turns it off. In the meantime, if it has been a few days and you still haven’t received anything, you may want to block the most likely explanation.

Some Android phones provide this function, while others do not. Some message receipts work perfectly with iOS, while others don’t. The best way to reach your intended recipient if you have an Android phone is to send a text message and hope that it gets answered.

Make A Call From Another Phone

You can sometimes find the best solution by calling the person’s number from another phone. Use your work phone or borrow a friend’s phone; it doesn’t really matter if you think you’ve been blocked. It doesn’t matter what you do, if you cannot reach a person on your phone, but you can reach them on another phone, then it’s likely you’ve been blocked.

If you want to know how long it takes to reach a person, pick a time when he or she is likely to be free. Call that person on your phone. Then call a different number immediately afterward. You don’t actually need to call the person; you just need to see how long it takes to reach voicemail.

The best-case scenario is that you will be able to speak with the person and discover why they are blocking your calls (if they hang up on you immediately, that’s also telling.) The worst-case scenario is that you will be forced to live with the mystery of whether or not your calls have been blocked.

Despite that, it’s not the worst mystery in the world when you come to think about it. Regardless of whether they block you outright or screen your calls indefinitely, the end result is the same: They don’t want to talk to you. It’s generally best to respect that and try again in a few months to see if things have settled down.

Don’t Do This

The feeling of being blocked by someone can be unpleasant, especially if you’re not sure why they’ve blocked you; in some cases, it can be downright frustrating.

It’s important to try not to let it bother you, and you should resist the urge to pursue contacting the person who blocked you, since it can be perceived as harassment.

Talk to a friend about the situation or find other forms of support that are readily available if you feel down about the situation.
