Henry Cavill Will Be Replaced By Liam Hemsworth In “The Witcher” Season 4 Following Netflix’s Early Renewal
The Witcher has been renewed for a fourth season on Netflix.
In the epic drama series, Liam Hemsworth will play Geralt of Rivia in place of Henry Cavill.
A four-part prequel series, The Witcher: Blood Origin, will launch December 25, 2022. The Witcher returns in summer 2023.
The drama’s first three seasons had Cavill portraying the grim Geralt of Rivia, a bane to supernatural beasties. He announced this week he will return as Superman.
Throughout The Witcher, three individuals are intertwined in a vast world of humans, elves, witchers, gnomes, and monsters, all of which strive to survive and thrive, and where good and evil are impossible to distinguish.

In a deal reported to be worth millions of dollars, Hemsworth will play Geralt of Rivia. He is best known for his roles in the Hunger Games franchise and in the Quibbi drama Most Dangerous Game.
The Witcher has been filming overseas and has a demanding production schedule, so Cavill decided it was time to move on from the show after three seasons. In addition to the Superman return, Cavill has a number of film and TV projects lined up, including the recently announced Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare. The Witcher co-stars renegotiated their contracts ahead of Season 4.
It is written and directed by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. Tomek Baginski, Jason F. Brown, Sean Daniel, Mike Ostrowski, Steve Gaub and Jarossaw Sawko are also executive producers.
The fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will take over the mantle of the White Wolf in my place. As with the greatest of literary characters, Cavill said, “I have been through monsters and adventures with Geralt of Rivia, but unfortunately, I will be passing down the mantle of the White Wolf for season four. Having embodied Geralt for so many years, I pass the torch with reverence and anticipation for Liam’s portrayal of this most fascinating and nuanced of characters. I hope you enjoy diving into this character and seeing what you can find. Liam, good sir, this character has such great depth.
The actor said, “As a Witcher fan, I am thrilled to be playing Geralt of Rivia. I am honoured that Henry Cavill has given me the reins and has let me take up Geralt’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure. As a fan of yours for years, I was inspired by the character you brought to life. Even though I may have some big shoes to fill, I’m really looking forward to joining The Witcher world.”
