In an attempt to locate Stamat’s 2012 BMW, police used surveillance footage and located it three miles away in his girlfriend’s garage. Cops found empty shell casings matching those found at the crime scene and an empty 9mm handgun box.
It has been confirmed by Stamat that he drove around the area of the shooting on the morning of the shooting.
Pregnant women, in their 20s, were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. As reported by a report, the father, in his 30s, saw a car pull up and shouted to his wife and children to get down so they could dodge the bullets, but they weren’t hurt. Their daughters, three and nine, and son, four, are being cared for by family members in Florida.
Their relative had no room to accommodate them, and they had recently been outside of Florida. They were living out of a rental car.
Police report that Stamat and the victims did not know each other.
Deputy Police Chief Mary O’Connor said on Sunday morning that Stamat was arrested on felony marijuana possession charges and released. He was then arrested on shooting charges later in the day.
A total of six felony charges have been filed against Stamat. He is being held without bond, facing four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of attempted murder in the second degree.
